Apologies in advance. After an exchange with Harald on the image/g3fax
content-type, it looks like it is inadequate for interoperability with
MHS--even with the new text. This is unfortunate.
Earlier I had that that a quick fix to the definition of image/g3fax
would be adequate. No dice.
This puts us in a dilemna: I do not want to delay the MIME spec any longer,
but I do not want to put out image/g3fax in its current (or previous) state.
Therefore, I am asking the list's indulgence in the following:
We remove the image/g3fax content-type ENTIRELY from the MIME spec
Keep in mind two thing:
1. MIME already has two other content-types which can represent
bitmap images; and,
2. The MIME/MHS working group can define image/g3fax during its
work this summer.
Since image/g3fax is necesary for MIME/MHS interworking, this seems
the best course.
