Re: 10646, and all that

Ohta-san, I think it is time we drop this discussion for a while.

OK.

I, at least, am
dropping out of this until I either have a concrete proposal or discover
something really new to say on the subject.

The concrete proposal I made so far is that:

        1) The current definition of "charset" is preserved

        2) It should be stated that IS 10646 can't be a "charset"
        without profiling

        3) That something is an IS is not enough condition to be
        registered as "charset"

2) is later replaced with

        2') It should be stated that ISCII can't be a "charset"
        without profiling

that nothing you are
saying is persuading me to like 10646-x-y approaches any more and that
nothing I (and a few others) are saying is persuading you to like it any
less (or even to understand our position any better).

Though 10646-x-y is just an example of profiling, I have never seen
concrete alternate proposal, yet. That's all.
