An issue has come up on info-mime that we ought to discuss here.
I should have realized it a long time ago, but the rules for
reassembling a message that has been split into several message/partial
objects should probably add "Subject" to the list of headers you take
from the encapsulated message rather than the envelope.
This is because it makes a lot of sense, when breaking up something with
Subject: foo
to generate
Subject: foo (part 1 of 3)
Subject: foo (part 2 of 3)
Subject: foo (part 3 of 3)
on the parts. But then, if you follow the current spec, you end up with
thet part 1 subject when you reassemble the message.
This in fact is what I did without thinking about it in the metamail
distribution. I will freely admit that my code is in violation of the
spec, but I think that my basic idea was a good one, and that when we go
to full standard the spec should add "Subject" to the list of headers
taken from the inner part. Any other opinions? -- Nathaniel
