I was talking about the context of the SMTP extension "8BITMIME",
not in the abstract about the "8bit CTE" in MIME itself.

What I was getting at is that I don't believe the "8BITMIME" extension
to SMTP can support transfer of binary body parts (CTE binary,
with no terminating CRLF).

This may be the reason why Z-Mail generates *every* message as a
multipart message, even when it has only a single part; I don't know...
