Re: Multipart/Alternate and TEXT/HTML in e-mail

SUMMARY

I'm loath to suggest that be allowed. If MUA implementors don't have
  a problem then I don't either.

Yes. I would be glad to hear from some others. I am sorry I
don't have time right now to give you a more professional, fully
worked model. The tea leaves below are offered for what anyone
can make of them.

A FEW DETAILS

When applied the Multipart/Related your model works for /Alternative.
What if the root were /Mixed or /Parallel? Those don't make sense as
they don't resolve to a single media type value.

Yes, those don't seem to make sense. The root should be
something that ultimately yields a place to start. The question
is, does it need to do that immediately.

(Why nested structures?)

One of the scenarios where I think one might want to have access
to /Alternative as the root part of a /Related is in sofware
delivery. I would suspect that in software delivery, the root
would want to be an install script; but this install script might
be provided in variant versions.

But I am not in a position to be hard over on any of this. If
all that works in the implementations that come out is one level
of aggregation, then we can program around that.
