I would second the use of dash because I use it, and have
seen others use it regularly, as a delimiter between application name
or ID and the version or release. That is, there is precedent for
dash to be used as a marker between specific and non-specific:
Besides the fact that I only know of one product which uses "-" as a
subaddress separator and several which use "+", there's a show-stopper for
using "-". Many sites use the firstname(_dot_)lastname(_at_)host naming
convention
and many people have "-" in their last names.
