They wouldn't have to. Web browsers can easily be configured to hand
off documents of a specific media type to another, external, application.
Assuming that your email client can handle message/rfc822, you would just
set that as that external application.

I'm not surprised. I think it's a good thing. I just don't think
you should impose your expectations on others.
