Yep. That was formail and it stopped doing so in version 3.12,
released 1999-03-02
It's almost ten years ago, but perhaps you still remember why?
I'm assuming that the other three sources I've found (PP and unnamed
gateways from XNS and X.400) stopped for similar reasons.
