After more thought and feeedback from some people on the list, here is a
second draft of the taxonomy of anti-spam systems.
The systems are classified into prevention, deterrence, and reaction
approaches.
I wonder if it might be useful to separately attempt a classification of
message classification systems? Something like this (way incomplete):
1 Transport
1.1 Source IP
1.2 Rate
1.3 Envelope (MAIL FROM)
1.4 Bounce ratios
1.5 ...
2. Content
2.1 Header consideration
2.2 Body consideration
2.3 Composite content analysis
2.4 ...
3. Context
3.1 Challenge/Response
3.2 Consent Tokens
3.3 ...
It might be convenient to describe anti-spam systems in terms of
the message classifications they employ, as well as the other
considerations you identify. Such a classification would be useful
in your taxonomy and elsewhere.
