As an ISP my experience has been that people just want a spam filter
which works perfectly and without any effort, or little effort.
If it lets spam by, then it sucks.
If there are any false positives, then it sucks.
If a filter mostly works, then they claim spam isn't enough of a
problem to risk false positives (note the paradox.)
Yes there are tinkerers who will futz with spamassassin etc but
they're a tiny minority.
Most of the mail is your usual:
I get a lot of spam on this account some of which is
offensive. I pay you good money, if you can't keep this
out of my account then I'll take my business elsewhere.
or
Your filter rejected mail which was not spam. I pay you good
money, if you can't keep the spam out of my account while
ensuring I get all email I want then I'll take my business
elsewhere.
etc.
It's a thankless position to be in.
