Fixing the edge has already proved fruitless in nearly a decade of
trying.
Given the proven fruitlessness of one approach vs the possibility of
frustration with another approach (whose underpinnings have now
increasingly been shown to have merit) which is preferable?
....
I have no problems looking at the problem from the "core", I just don't
know where to begin. If you wish to attack the problem at the "core", then
"stand up and deliver" - lets hear some concrete directions in which we
should be looking, some approaches we should pursue, data which we should
be soliciting. That's why I am suggesting to you and Eric writing a short
document or perhaps posting a message to the list outlining directions and
approaches to attack spam from the "core" angle, instead of just talking
about it.
Additionally, as I mentioned previously
(https://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/working-groups/asrg/current/msg06454.html),
coordination with other RGs and WGs would be useful.
