They accept mail via a different port. It isn't that clever, anyone could
have thought of it.They have other means of not becoming an open relay. I
don't mean to bring them up as the solution to Miller's problem, just to
point out that should his problem become widespread, solutions will become
widely available, and problably in multiple forms. MSA submit is another,
should MUAs become willing to give it first class support. But it isn't
the only possibility.
