I see some conceptual similarities between this epostage proposal and DKIM.

Well, I don't. At least at this level: there was a huge amount of
noise about the so-called "replay" problem that DKIM didn't prevent
when we were developing the spec. The problem is that "replay" is
a feature of 821/822, not a bug. Preventing it is to make it something
other than the email we all use and love. Which is fine: well known
port numbers are still plentiful, and a global system that isn't
SMTP that prevents "replay" is available for anybody to code,
deploy, and evangelize. But it necessarily won't have the same
characteristics as email as we know it.

Really, I don't know why people who think that some postage
scheme would be a better alternative to email as we use it today
don't just do it. If it's good, people will start using it, and
there's plenty of precedent that you don't need the ossified
IETF's blessing to make something popular. Indeed, the opposite
is likely true. But for goodness sake, stop trying to graft it
onto 821/822; it just annoys the pig.
