And I think it is reasonable for some to believe DKIM is about combatting spam given the context of many of these discussions and how DKIM is mentioned in other forums.

As a domain owner, what I want is for the bad guys to use somebody else's domain, not mine. So, yes, spammers buying another domain is a good benifit
from my POV.

This is a good point, and the one that should be made. DKIM has value even without a reputation system.
