I could easily put this another way: we are making use of a DNS 
facility.  "Coupling" usually implies some sort of bidirectional 
dependency.  There is none here.
2. Modifies SMTP.  (Yes, really.)
Having non-normative text that describes it serves to promote the idea but 
not 
couple it with the fate of ADSP.
  
Perhaps so, but since everyone has agreed this is a good idea, what is 
the harm?
