I'm thinking what you're probably thinking... that 
anti-forgery measures 
will eventually result in a net gain, but it will be 
difficult to prove 
empirically.  I would suggest to focus on ratios more than 
raw numbers. 

We can calculate ratios from raw numbers but we need the raw numbers first.
Being able to view them, and then logging ratios with simple calculations (or
even doing them in a spreadsheet or database after the fact) would provide
the ratios and the really useful data.

Part of the problem is a rule of performance monitoring: "Measuring it
changes it." If we're measuring CPU usage at the same time as measuring, say,
a ratio between received mail and refused spam (as opposed to sets of raw
numbers) we could adversely affect the CPU usage measurement.  We can always
calculate after the fact.
