As there is almost no other use for TXT records as we speak (perhaps
someone could be so kind to repost the survey carried out on a large
list of domains, which stated how many domains with non-spf1 txt records
were found) and added to that the problems with wildcards, my opinion is
that prefixes are not preferable.

However, problems might start to exist in the future, when several
competing versions of spf-derived protocols will be in effect. However,
this might also be a pro, as it limits the proliferation of possible
spf-derived protocols and therefore will force the community to converge
on a standard sooner.
