Re: Restarting the 40-bit debate

Why focus on 40 bit crypto? Heck, France doesn't allow
encryption at all. By mandating 40 bit crypto are we
discriminating against the French? Why not argue over no
encryption as the minimal interoperable standard? The 40 bit
issue, from a technical perspective, seems silly. From a
commercial perspective I agree with Ned Freed, re credibility.

We could end the 40 bit debate and settle the interoperability
issue by mandating RC4-128, IDEA, DES-EDE3, or DESX.
