Yes, but DER rules. CER would seem the more logical choice, and
I looked at this issue some time back earlier this year, but I
could find not one single ASN.1 specification that had adopted
CER. And I know of no free or commercial products that support
CER at this time.
Phil is correct in all of the above. However, given that the
OSS ASN.1 Tools already supports BER, DER and PER, it will be
very easy for us to support CER. You can be certain that if
CER is required by this or any other standard OSS will provide
immediate support for it - before any implementor has a need.
