I like that idea.  That strategy would allow the S/MIME Message Spec to
specify the use of the rsaEncryption OID to preserve backwards compatibility
with legacy S/MIME implementations (if that is what is decided by the
group).  It would also allow another protocol that employs CMS to specify
the use of the md5WithRSAEncryption or sha1WithRSAEncryption OID (as
appropriate).

Hey everyone.

Perhaps the CMSALG document should include the specifications for both 
approaches.  Then, the upcoming MSG update will deal with the MUST and 
SHOULD statements.
