even so, I don't think zip qualifies. it's common, but
certainly not ubiquitous, and it's mostly used on a single
vendor's platforms.
Well, it's difficult finding a platform zip has not been ported to.
indeed, you can find a zip program for almost any platform in existence.
but that doesn't mean it's widely used on more than one of those platforms.
(similar things could be said for most comprssion/archive formats)
but the real problem with the application/zip hack is not the format,
it's that it's a very lame way of adding compression to MIME.
