This is a configurable option in sendmail to do the rewrite.

It doesn't work well at all, in part because the DNS is a lousy choice for such
information operationally, but mostly because in practice domains require much
richer semantics: Sometimes it's a true alias, sometimes it's an overlay,
sometimes you want rewriting, sometimes you don't, sometimes you want it to
apply to arbitrary subdomains, sometimes you don't, etc. etc. etc.
