In the sense that if the implementation couldn't get that detail right, 
they probably botched up a lot more than that?

The relevant Received: lines indicate that ietf.org is using Postfix. The good
news is that the problem is *probably* just a bad regexp in one of the local
config files, as some googling doesn't find anybody else tripping over this,
which would be expected for something used as much as Postfix.

(Am placing bets that somebody was trying to prevent <127.0.0.1> literals
and forgot to allow it with brackets)

makes numerous references to RFC5321 and RFC5322 :)
