I wonder if even
writing a BCP about this even makes sense at this point,
because the application writers (or authors of the references
the application writers use) may never see the draft, or even
be concerned that it's something they should check for.
I think that it does make sense to write a draft because the growing
effort to roll out IPv6 is causing lots of people to review their
applications and how they communicate on the network. I would expect
that some percentage of those applications would end up being changed if
such a draft were available.
