Um, true... but it's also the case that the implementation community
hasn't over the years been doing as much as might be best to make
reality match the specifications. The new specs we're writing now would
like have been a lot thinner and cleaner if they had.
At least on the browser front, having been on those front lines for much
of my career, I don't really know what more we could have done.
But in any case, that's somewhat irrelevant now, since it's too late to
ge back and change it.
