I have personally done that considerably more than once. In the SIP world,
there are lots of extensions, so it's not all that rare to do the "what's
this tag about?" dance
Me too (for IMAP and other things). Maybe IANA is a starting point for
"advanced" users, but I think it does serve a very useful purpose for
developers.
Isn't it also a starting point for some people doing network debug. I.e. People
trying to figure out what is happening by looking at a packet trace.
