Geolocation via topologically defined addresses is silly. Why do we
care about fixing it?
i was not aware that bssid/macs were topologically assigned. i thought
they were mfr based. i guess slaac can be used to confuddle the two. :)
A fair hit, but topologically- or physical device- based are
both broken solutions IMNSHO. I understand that the IETF NOC
has to deal with it pragmatically, but let's not imagine that
there's any real fix for intrinsic breakage.
we have a text database of our bssid/macs. we could prod the geoloc
provider to pull it and the new location. would need authentication,
authorization, etc. of course.
