It is not absolutely necessary for every structured element in an XML document
to be broken down into XML sub-components. URIs, for example, are structured
identifiers which are typically incorporated into XML in their literal form,
rather than being broken into sub-structures.
As a side-note, mail-ng may offer an opportunity to bring email addresses
under the URI aegis (rather than having their own special syntax), should
that be considered beneficial. (I anticipate good reasons for doing so, but
it's a little premature to be discussing such details.)
