Off the top of my head, you may want to run the mailbox through formail
which comes with the procmail package. You may also consider writing a
shot perl script which will read in the file and by splitting each
colonless from line decide which file to write the output to.

If you have majordomo installed, you can find such a perl script in the
majordomo archive program, archive2.pl. In addition to feeding it a
single message to add to a majordomo archive, you can feed it a large
mailbox file and it will split it up into yearly, monthly, or daily
archives.
