Re: [Nmh-workers] Garbage collection

Please don't remove rcvtty -- I use it too -- and on OpenBSD no less,
with a tiny patch that brings back utmp support (so few lines, was it
really necessary to remove it?).

Yes. We made a decision to migrate to POSIX, and I wouldn't call the
amount of code removed small (look at the revision logs to see what I
mean). I'd call it a hairy mess, actually. Reworking that code to
support both utmp and utmpx wasn't something I was interested in doing,
especially when it's obvious where the world has gone.

Why is it wrong to alert to a terminal? That's a feature I rely on, and
have relied on for about two decades now (MH or not, the shell telling
you there's mail waiting is very helpful IMO).

I'm personally not crazy about async notifications to my terminal,
because that can mess up what I'm doing if I'm in an editor. But it's
clear we have enough people who use this functionality that I'm not
going to remove it. Which is why I asked here.

Thankfully no one has yet spoken up for UUCP support :-)
