Hi Ken,
we have to decide how to parse that, assuming that you just want to
add something to the server hostname. As I've learned recently you
can't use a colon as a separator because that's a valid character in
an IPv6 address.
The rule for URLs is to enclose the IPv6 address in brackets, with the
`:42' following.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv6_address#Literal_IPv6_addresses_in_network_resource_identifiers
It seems to have spread beyond URLs now, e.g. Postfix.
