what i meant was that the send manpage for example just says 'if you have dcc
and anything but sendmail/pipe then...' but doesn't say what happens
when you're on pipe.
That's a fair point. I guess we the obvious answer is that when you're
using sendmail/pipe, it does nothing, which is accurate (but I think
we both agree that is probably incorrect).
it's similar regarding that bcc is meant to produce those warning
encrustations; not having used non-silent bcc in decades
i couldn't figure that out fully from the manpages, but had to look
at the source.
Hm. Well, here's what the manpage says:
If a "Bcc:" field is encountered, its addresses will be used for deliv-
ery, and the "Bcc:" field will be removed from the message sent to
sighted recipients. The blind recipients will receive an entirely new
message with a minimal set of headers. Included in the body of the
message will be a copy of the message sent to the sighted recipients.
Which I think is an accurate description of what exactly happens (I
mean, with sendmail/pipe it doesn't currently WORK, but that's a bug). I am
always open to a better explanation.
