I don't get it Doug. You say that you want privacy and don't care about trust
and authentication. By using a Persona, at least, you have privacy.
Next, you complain that nobody will trust a Persona. But I thought you didn't
care about trust and authentication!?! You still have the privacy you asked
for. People don't necessarily trust anonymous sources. When I read a
newspaper and I see the words "anonymous sources" I lend less creedness to
whatever the statement. People will treat Personas as just what they are, a
unique identifier bound to a public key; nothing more.
Like most people here I want privacy. I don't want third party

You do not speak for most people on this list, neither do I. I suspect,
however, that most people on this list have been involved in the development
of the current standard, and it sounds a bit strange that most people would
develop a standard they don't want.
