Doug,
You continue to write messages as though you have somehow
become a spokesman for the PEM WG. Your recent message to Charlie
Kaufman includes the phrase "... if we name this spec ..." that is
symptomatic of this tendency. (By the way, the spec IS named this
way, and its predecessors for over 6 years have been named that way.)
Perhaps the more interesting phrase in your last missive was "... use
the messaging infrastructure we're building ..." Based on your
response to a previous message of mine, Doug Porter does not appear to
be one of the "we" who is building this system. Doug Porter appears
to be someone who has recently joined this list (or just recently read
the RFCs) and has discovered what security services are bundled in
what way by PEM, a characteristic that has not changed since the first
PEM RFC (989) was published in 1987! You're coming to this party a
little late, don't you think Doug?
Steve
