Re: Encoding e-mail addresses as DN's: draft

1994-03-09 17:37:00
Well, Peter, your address broke my mailer. It choked on the commas,
even though they were inside quotes. Curiously, it allows commas within names
when they come from my address book, but apparently not on replies, as
it made up a new To: after every comma. (This is simply a bug, I presume.
One more reason to abandon this mailer for a better one.)

We'll see if the rest worked -- you'll know if you only get one copy. If it
does, I'll squirrel it away in my address book as a beautiful example of how
to turn a silk purse into a sow's ear.

I have seen 2 commercial UAs do precisely what bob "dreams" about.
Both are highly valuable, and thus not distributed for free on
R&D networks.

I would be happy to pay good money for such a product. Can you
give me a reference, or have someone contact me? (Privately, if you
would like to keep naked commercialism off this list.) I'd be most
interested in evaluating such a system, even at the alpha or beta level.

Go and get the experimental MAC stuff from MIT. well on the way to success.

The only reason I haven't visited Jeff Schiller at MIT, who is only 25 miles
away, is that I thought their system was for "non-commercial purposes only"
and that that would preclude its use within a for-profit organization.

I have recently had discussions with RSA, and they may be willing to
grant a waiver or even amend their RSA-REF license to clarify this issue,
if that is the problem, so I will contact Jeff tomorrow.

I'm also looking forward to Sead Muftic's forthcoming Windows product.

Thanks,

Bob
