qmail-style maildirs

1997-04-21 20:52:00
Hi, all!

I was wondering if anybody has implemented delivery to qmail-style
maildirs. Enclosed is the man page for maildir(5), from the
qmail-1.00 distribution.

I'd like to use procmail to deliver to maildirs, because I want a
totally secure delivery mechanism, and I want to filter my mail as
well.

Procmail by itself is fine, but my mail user agents are not so fine,
and it would be simpler to implement maildir handling in them than it
would be to make them know how to do all the file locking that
procmail does.

If nobody has done this work, then I would be willing to write an
initial implementation, but I need to overcome my fear of the procmail
sources. I'm also not sure if my changes would be totally secure, and
I definitely would not want to introduce bugs.

Anyway, thanks for any help you can offer... I've been a happy
procmail 3.10 user for the last couple of years, and I'm looking
forward to a long future. :)

Thanks,
