Re: Redirect Problems -- Thanks

Also, shouldn't you be handling this via sendmail aliases?
Please forgive my ignorance, but what are "sendmail aliases"?

man aliases
man sendmail
less /etc/aliases (on many hosts) or /var/adm/sendmail/aliases or ...

and this forwarded message you sent only makes me more certain this is
what you should be doing.
There's some discussion about this in (ahem) my humble attempt at a
Procmail FAQ <http://www.iki.fi/~era/procmail/mini-faq.html> -- look
for "virtual domains" in the index. You will find more about this in
the Sendmail FAQ, too.

Hope this helps,

    Thanks Era!

Your sugestions (and FAQ) are helpful. I will be reading and studying
them carefully.

So, you should be having a recipe which says

    :0
    * ^TO_pete(_at_)lava(_dot_)net
    ! where-ever

which you expected to forward to where-ever, but it didn't?

To: Gogoclown(_at_)aol(_dot_)com
Cc: balloondeco(_at_)fooledya(_dot_)com

(I don't see pete here, how did you expect this to match the recipe?)

That's the rub -- the above sample should NOT be going to the
pete(_at_)lava(_dot_)net address at all; it should be going to the client's
address.
(pete(_at_)lava(_dot_)net is our "catch-all"/default address). Not sure how
this happened,
but I'll be reading your FAQ and the man pages to see what happened.

Mahalo (Thanks) again!

Michele
