Re: using sed to snip signatures

    One problem I see is that, like it or not, not all MUAs conform to
the '-- ' convention to demark sigs.  For example, I use Pine by
choice, whatever may be its faults.  I have a $HOME/.signature file. 
When I go to compose an email, Pine actually includes the sig within
the tmp file when it gives control to my editor, so that the sig is
part of the actual edit space, not tacked on as part of the submission
process.

    I could insert the '-- ' manually, of course, but this would be
tedious and prone to forgetfulness.  Also, some editors upon exit trim
trailing blanks, so the sig marker could get clobbered, anyway.  I
honestly don't know whether the '-- ' convention is part of an RFC, 
but it gets ignored a lot, so I for one do not know how procmail or
procmail plus sed could handle a general case.
