Notifier

Could I use Procmail to develope an email notifier application, that run
everytime a new mail arrive. My plan is put some recipe in .procmailrc to
get the body of the message with formmail to a variable and run my
notifier application that use the local variable (containing From and
Subject Header) as the parameter, to notifiy there is an incoming mail.
I just install the procmail, and read the manual, but make me a litle bit
confuse, i will be very thank you for the information.
