Variables and Nested Blocks

Question regarding nested blocks within a recipe:

VARIABLE=somevalue

...

:0
* ^Subject.*yadda
{
   :0:
   * ^From.*someone
   somefolder

   VARIABLE=othervalue

   :0:
   otherfolder
}

...

Once I pass out of the above recipe, will the value of VARIABLE be
"somevalue" or "othervalue" for the next recipe(s)?
