Andrew asked,

| As long as you bring it up, how does everyone else generally sort mailing
| lists? I use Sender: myself, for lists that add a Sender: header. I'm curious
| how the more experienced procmail users determine where to sort list mail.

Every mailing list software package generates different headers, so I look at
each list to which I subscribe and figure out a way to spot its posts. The
key is to use something added or clobbered by the list software and not to
depend on anything under posters' control. If there's an X-Mailing-List:,
Mailing-List:, or List-ID: header, great. For other lists I generally use
Sender: or From_.

A ^TO_ regexp has three shortcomings: it misses posts that are blind-carboned
to a list; if someone follows up to one of your posts and sends a direct copy
to you, the direct copy lands in the folder for the list's posts; and if
someone crossposts to two or more lists that you are on, both or all the cop-
ies go to the folder for the first of those lists that your procmailrc checks
for.
