I believe in the Micro$oft World something like "request
reception confirmation" is an option when sending an email with
one of these unholy 'tools' like "MS Outlook".

As I understand it, RFC 2298 defines the format of Message
Disposition Notifications (MDNs) and the RFC 822 headers used to
request them.

I've noticed headers in messages from people requesting such
notifications in the format:

Disposition-Notification-To: their(_at_)email(_dot_)address

The presence of such a header is a REQUEST for an MDN. Mail user
agents are not required to respond to that request. Also, MDNs
shouldn't be automatically sent if the address in the Return-Path
header is different from the Disposition-Notification-To header.
