Hi all,
I've been using Mutt as my MUA with its POP feature enabled. Lately
I've wanted to taked advantage of procmail recipes and some of the
more advanced wonders available. So I set up a fetchmail to procmail
to Mutt chain.
result: fetchmail fetches and hands to procmail. procmail seems to
process and place the new mail in the appropriate file. But Mutt does
not see or show the new mail. Instead Mutt gives me the following:
Mailbox was externally modified. Flags may be wrong.
I've asked for help on the Mutt users group and my local users group.
I've received mostly silence. I changed and rechanged every
combination of spoolfile and procmail default and mailpath and
locking combination I can find.
The result is the same.
I just don't know what else to try.
mutt -v gives:
System: Linux 2.4.0-6-keith [using slang 10404]
Compile options:
-DOMAIN
-DEBUG
-HOMESPOOL +USE_SETGID +USE_DOTLOCK +USE_FCNTL -USE_FLOCK
-USE_IMAP -USE_GSS -USE_SSL -USE_POP +HAVE_REGCOMP
-USE_GNU_REGEX
+HAVE_COLOR +HAVE_PGP -BUFFY_SIZE -EXACT_ADDRESS +ENABLE_NLS
SENDMAIL="/usr/sbin/sendmail"
MAILPATH="/var/spool/mail"
SHAREDIR="/usr/share/mutt"
SYSCONFDIR="/usr/etc"
ISPELL="/usr/bin/ispell"
procmail -v gives:
Locking strategies: dotlocking, fcntl(), lockf(), flock()
Default rcfile: $HOME/.procmailrc
Your system mailbox: /var/spool/mail/keith
.muttrc has:
set folder=~/Mail

set copy=yes
set record=+Sent
set dotlock_program=/usr/bin/mutt_dotlock
mailboxes /home/keith/Mail/Inbox
mailboxes /var/spool/mail/keith
.procmailrc has:
PATH=$HOME/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin
MAILDIR=$HOME/Mail
DEFAULT=$MAILDIR/Inbox
LOGFILE=$HOME/Procmail/log
PMDIR=$HOME/Procmail
mailstat gives:
Total Number Folder

permissions of my home directory are:
drwx--x--x 46 keith 501 4096 Jun 16 07:42
permissions of .procmailrc are:
-rw-r--r-- 1 keith 501 239 Jun 16 07:38 .procmailrc
I am hoping someone on this list can suggest where I should be
looking.
