A belated thanks, Philip, for suggesting this. I was finally able to get
the time needed to restart postfix and impliment this. However, all e.mail
addressed to user 'root' now ends up in user 'nobody''s mail spool. All
other users are unaffected.
Why should the above change create this effect?
Because postfix will not invoke a local delivery agent as root.
The workaround is to alias root to a user with uid != 0 and use that
account to store your root mail archive (you're not actually reading
mail as root, are you? That's generally considered a bad idea...)
