Coredump on large emails

2001-12-04 21:09:42
Hi,

        Running :

procmail v3.22 2001/09/10
    Copyright (c) 1990-2001, Stephen R. van den Berg    <srb(_at_)cuci(_dot_)nl>
    Copyright (c) 1997-2001, Philip A. Guenther
<guenther(_at_)sendmail(_dot_)com>

Submit questions/answers to the procmail-related mailinglist by sending to:
        <procmail-users(_at_)procmail(_dot_)org>

And of course, subscription and information requests for this list to:
        <procmail-users-request(_at_)procmail(_dot_)org>

Locking strategies:     dotlocking, fcntl()
Default rcfile:         $HOME/.procmailrc
Your system mailbox:    /var/mail/root

        on BSD/OS 4.2 out of /usr/local/bin, and :

"|IFS=' '&&p=/usr/local/bin/procmail&&test -f $p&&exec $p -Yf-||exit 75 #YOUR_US
ERNAME"

        in the .forward, and a fairly simple .procmailrc :

SHELL=/bin/sh

:0c
*  ^Content-Type:.*(multipart|related)
* 1^0 B ?? ^Content-Type: audio/x-wav
/dev/null

:0A:
virus.messages

        But we seem to be getting a LARGE email :

-rw-------  1 root  wheel  9470876 Dec  4 17:44 dffB4MiIx08440

        And its undeliverable due to :

Mmailer prog died with signal 11 (core dumped)

        running gdb on it is useless, since it doesn't have any debug
in the build. Our messages file contains :

Dec 4 22:39:25 lif procmail[12284]: Out of memory as I tried to allocate
8212994 bytes

        A top on the system shows :

Memory: Real: 40M/56M Virt: 59M/271M Free: 157M

        Any thoughts on what to do?

                Thanks, Tuc/TTSG Internet Services, Inc.
