Re: Changing my system mailbox

2002-05-11 05:21:10
However in my .procmailrc file I have specified my mailbox to be the
following: MAILDIR=$HOME/mail ($HOME being /md/username).

MAILDIR is not a mailbox - it is a directory that procmail uses as its
current directory when it is executing. See 'man procmailrc'.

I have read numerous suggestions on the web and nothing seems to work.

What things have you tried? It is much easier to determine what is
going wrong if we know what you have tried.

Have you tried setting the VERBOSE variable to get more details in your
log?

The contents of your .procmailrc file would also make it easier to
figure out what is going on.

I'll guess that you don't have much in your .procmailrc file other than
the MAILDIR variable. Try setting the DEFAULT variable to the default
mailbox you want, instead. As it says in the procmailrc man page:

DEFAULT Default mailbox file (if not told otherwise,
procmail will dump mail in this mailbox).

So maybe you want that to be set to $HOME/mail.

Hope that helps,
Martin
