At 14:46 2002-09-16 -0400, Don Hammond did say:
The couple of messages I sent to procmail.org just disappeared. No
bounce. No nothing. Just Poof!
I'd check my mail filters and make sure I didn't stuff the bounces
someplace they didn't belong, such as the trash.
As of this morning, procmail.org was still configured to relay the messages
to the incorrect list address at rwth-aachen.de.
There's nothing I can learn from that.[1] Sending to this address was to
see if it works for me.
(which, a test message disguised as a regular contribution to some topic
would have accomplished).
It was also to dispel my notion that the list might be testing SMTP MAIL
FROM:
The LIST does not - however, the LIST SERVER might. It is known that the
LIST SERVER makes use of DNSRBLs for instance.
(by initiating a new SMTP connection and using it as SMTP RCPT TO:)
before accepting mail.
This would be a nearly useless test since most gateway MTAs don't
acknowledge the validity of accounts - you've got to wait for a BOUNCE.
