Re: character set spec bypassing filter?

2002-11-07 17:38:17
So I suspect that some sort of processing is occurring, and that my
procmail filter never really 'sees' the 'euc-kr' string, because of some
'handling' done on the control characters(?). My question is, how would I
get procmail to ignore control characters so that it 'sees' the euc-kr
that is obviously there?

Also, while I'm here, I've noticed another spammer trick, of late, is to
send spam encoded as base64. I can capture this by looking for
'Content-Type: text/html
Content-Transfer-Endocing: BASE64'
(BASE64 is still legitimate for attachments)

Is there a tool/module to DECODE the base64 so that procmail filtering
checks on the message body can be performed? This would be preferable to
treating all BASE64 text as spam.......

I've experienced all those tricks & more ... invariably with korean spam.
Since I have neither the time nor the inclination to play games with
ignoramus scumbag asians who obviously haven't enough sense to realize that
certain spam filter rules are there for the sole purpose of blocking stupid
c**p that most of us couldn't read even if we wanted. The recent North
Korean 'atomic warfare' fiasco has clearly proven what I've long suspected
..... koreans in general aren't the sharpest pencils in the pack.

Whilst we do occasionally see some caucasian spam, at least the senders have
the decency to honour convention & use proper 'abuse' aliases ... something
I've never yet seen with asian spamlords. In the rare case when a real
'whois' admin or tech contact email address exists for asian spamlords its
invariably over quota !!!

I've now implemented 'the final solution' & added a HEAP of ipfw rules to
reject any & all traffic from all known chinese & korean IPs. I've also
laced all websites under my control with liberal doses of sugarplum &
Wpoison, so that if perchance any spambots find their way to the sites they
will get a wee bit more than they expected :) :) :)
