Perhaps it's time for that information to be included in the body of the
list's e-mails... even THIS list's e-mails.
I already get that information at the bottom in a footer on every message.
It basically says "This email contains List Management Information". When
you select that link, it gives you a menu from which you can unsubscribe
from the list. I don't see how to make it any more explicit, without the
unsubscribe information overshadowing the actual list messages! :)
Btw, does anyone have a procmail recipe for filtering out misdirected
unsubscribe requests?

Unfortunately, few users have any idea these days that those things are there.
Especially the type who would send an "unsubscribe" to the distribution
address.
