When Dallman suggested,
: | cat $= > somefile
I asked him,
| What will that accomplish other than invoking a shell, generating a "cat:
| cannot open 0" [or whatever number $= currently is] error, and giving
procmail
| a write error? It certainly won't come close to Bart's original goal.
If $= is negative, there is something else it will do: it will generate a
usage error for each distinct digit in the absolute value of $=, since no
digit is a valid option for cat(1).
